App Dropper

Share an APK on WhatsApp with a link, not a file

Upload your APK here and send the link in any chat. People tap it and install. When you have a new version, the same link gets it.

Why a link works better

Sending the .apk file is fine once. By the third version the chat is full of attachments with nearly the same name, everyone downloads the whole file again, and someone always installs the old one.

Questions

Can I send the link to a WhatsApp group?

Yes. The Send on WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp with the link already typed, and you pick any chat or group. You can also copy the link and paste it anywhere: Telegram, Slack, email, a text message.

Do I send a new link for every version?

No. Each app gets one link. Upload the new APK and the same link installs it, so the message you sent last week still works.

Do the people I send it to need an account?

No. They tap the link, see the app's name, version and size, and tap Install. They only need to sign in if you have locked the app to invited testers.

Is it free?

Yes. The free plan takes APKs up to 150 MB and keeps each build for 7 days. No card needed.

Why does the phone ask for permission before installing?

Android asks once before it installs any app that didn't come from the Play Store. Your tester allows installs from their browser and carries on. It happens with an APK file sent in a chat too.

Can I see who installed it?

You can see install counts for each build, and with invited testers you know who has access. Testers who use the App Dropper app also get a notification when you upload a new version.

Testers sitting next to you? Give them a QR code to scan instead. More on how sharing works in share an APK file.
